Continuing Cares Community Comment of 14 October 2014

BY Craig Scaman

Whitianga | Thu November 13, 2014

A big thank you to the family members and others in the community who have called in, thanked us and offered their support for the hard work and care we provide. It has really lifted the spirits of all who work here.

In the run-up to the festive season, we are organising a children’s Christmas party on 6 December. This will be for children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of both staff and residents. There will be fun and games and a visit from Santa. The forms for this have been distributed to the residents and extra copies are available at reception.

On the development front, work starts this week on refurbishing some of our ensuite rooms and I’ve also enquired about freeing up some extra space as we are currently having to turn people away and have a waiting list for both permanent and short term care beds. We are unable to make advance bookings for respite care for the foreseeable future but will always try to assist wherever possible.

Activity wise the residents will be enjoying a traditional fry-up on the morning of Armistice Day on 11 November as we commemorate the end of the First World War.

Are you growing a Mo? Members at Evolution fitness have taken up the challenge to grow and will also take part in a fitness challenge organised by the new owners of the gym, Steve and Annette. Continuing Care is proud to sponsor one of the prizes available as they search for Mr and Miss Movember.

Until next month,

Craig Scaman, Business and Care Manager and the team at Whitianga Continuing Care
