General

The suspect in relation to burglaries in Whitianga and Tairua, along with an assault in Auckland, was apprehended in Rotorua last week.

This arrest was a direct result of information provided by members of the public and is an excellent example of people providing small pieces of evidence that when combined, linked the suspect and all these offences together.

Excellent to see people taking care during the weather event last week. 

Arrests

26th - 1 x 40-year-old local man warned for Possession of Cannabis.

27th - 1 x 27-year-old local man for Driving while Suspended.

28th - 1 x 20-year-old local man for Assaulting Person in Family Relationship.

30th - 1 x 28-year-old local man for Wilful Damage x2.   

Occurrences

Three Family Harm incidents attended this week.

On the 24th as per the arrest above, we attended an alleged assault at a Hahei Road address, while on the 25th we attended an argument involving the extended family associated to this incident and sound advice was given.

We are also investigating an incident at a Kaimarama Road address where an alleged assault occurred. 

A threatening behaviour incident was reported at Ferry Landing on the 24th and our enquiries are continuing.

On the 25th a bicycle was stolen from an address on The Fairway, Matarangi and located on Corokia Place on the 26th. The bicycle will be returned to its owner. 

A wall heater was stolen from the Mercury Bay Game Fishing Club on the 29th and anyone with information is requested to let us know.

A threatening behaviour incident was reported at Hilton Avenue on the 30th.

Traffic

A 20-year-old local man lost control of his vehicle on Buffalo Beach Road on the 29th and was subsequently found with a breath alcohol reading of 824/250.

An orange station wagon was observed doing a burnout on Robinson Road on the 25th and enquiries are continuing.
