New Whitianga offices measure up for Surveying Services

Business is booming for subdivision specialists, Surveying Services, who have moved into bigger premises to cope with the increased workload.

The Tauranga-based company, which also has offices in Paeroa, Morrinsville, Thames and Putararu, has relocated from shared space upstairs with Peninsular Business Services in Blacksmith Lane, to their own larger, ground-level premises adjacent to Pathlab just around the corner from New World.

Surveying Services management says that the move was prompted by solid growth in the region coupled with confidence in the services they provide.

“With confidence in the region currently so strong, we have seen unprecedented demand for our services. We have seen two-fold growth in the company over the last few years alone,” says Brent Trail, managing director.

Brent says the move will allow the business to cope with projected growth over the next few years. Following their recent restructuring, they now have a team of four surveyors and project managers working in the region.

Surveying Services prides itself on being a “one-stop shop” for all subdivisions and surveying needs related to building, such as site surveys and topographical plans required at the house design stage. These plans are needed to maximise the use of the building section and make sure that the house will comply with all the Council rules and regulations.

Thames-Coromandel District Council has rules for minimum yards, maximum site coverage and potential shadowing of neighbours that must be certified as complying by a licensed cadastral surveyor.

Brent says that Surveying Services handles the entire subdivision process from start to finish - from obtaining Council consents, arranging all the construction required under conditions of consent, such as driveways, water supply and electrical connections, through to obtaining legal titles needed to put the sections on the market.

“We take all the stress away from you, by being a true one-stop shop.”

Many people think that creating a subdivision is a simple matter of a couple of surveyors knocking pegs into the ground, but nothing could be further from the truth. A glimpse at the Surveying Services website shows the level of expertise required to obtain the best results, from the obvious technical ability through to having an intimate knowledge of the rules and regulations, which differ from council to council. Knowing how the Council operates and being able to negotiate through the process is the key to success in this field.

The website includes several very readable and informative articles on various aspects of subdividing land, which would be essential reading for anyone thinking of subdividing now, or even just out of general interest. Having a company providing this level of expertise and service in Whitianga is undoubtedly great for development of the town and surrounding rural area.

So, if you have any questions relating to general surveying or total subdivision, pop in and have a chat with their friendly team.
