WHITIANGA WEATHER

Two Mercury Bay Area School students recently returned from a trip of a lifetime patrolling the golden sands of Huntington Beach, California.

The family of Mercury Bay fishing and boating legend, Don Ross, made the journey from Katikati to Whitianga, to give him a true “hometown and home club” send off at the Mercury Bay Game Fishing Club on Tuesday last week.

Good friends, music and her favourite Liquorice Allsorts were all on the menu on Thursday last week when well-known Whitianga personality, Gwen Hamilton, celebrated her 102nd birthday.

Mercury Bay Area School hospitality students, alongside their food, nutrition and hospitality teacher, Joanna Mannington will host a Tuia 250 dinner inspired by the diet consumed on board H.M. Bark Endeavour after its arrival in Mercury Bay 250 years ago.
