Mercury Bay Sand Sculpture Competition Rules and Regulations

 

  • - All categories (team and individual) have a designated plot area of 4 metres by 3 metres.
  • - Only natural biodegradable materials found on the beach may be used eg seaweed, shells, etc.
  • - No power tools are allowed (including battery operated tools).
  • - Each individual/team is expected to build their sculpture with their hands or hand tools such as
    spades, tampers, masonry and garden implements.
  • - Teams are responsible for their own food, water, buckets, sunscreen, etc.
  • - Please remove all litter from your plot site on completition.
  • - Theme of the competition is land, sea and sky.

The Mercury Bay Informer is a highly popular community newspaper, based in Whitianga. The paper is distributed throughout the Coromandel Peninsula, coast to coast from Thames to north of Colville.
