Outstanding results for En Pointe Dance School students

En Pointe Dance School in Whitianga celebrated the outstanding achievements of three students in the Dance Education Centre assessments that were held over four days in September this year.

Because of Covid-19 restrictions, the students weren’t assessed personally but the school had to submit videos of their assessment routines. “It was the first year we’ve had to do assessments like this,” says Lisa Gifford, owner of the dance school.

Among them, the three students - Milly Lamason, Indaria Bainbridge-Davies and Tahlia Osborne - danced 17 Ballet, Urban, Hip-hop, Tap, Contemporary and Lyrical assessments with Indaria receiving four Awards of Excellence, Tahlia three and Milly two. Tahlia has also received 100 percent in her Urban assessment. “A perfect score in any assessment is very rare,” says Lisa. “It’s only the second year in all the time I’ve been a dance teacher that one of my students has achieved that. One of the most valuable comments that was made with regard to Milly, Indaria and Tahlia’s assessments was that all three of them are highly versatile dancers. It’s something they should be very proud of.

“Doing the assessments differently this year wasn’t easy, but all my students persevered. I really want to thank them for the commitment and dedication.”
