Air Show at Buffalo Beach - Sunday

Navigation Safety Bylaw Uplifting For Whitianga Air Show

9.45am to 12.15pm - Sunday, 22 October 2023 (Reserve Date 23 October 2023)

Mercury Bay Aero Club has reserved a portion of Buffalo Beach, Whitianga under the Waikato Regional Council Navigation Safety Bylaw 2013

For safety reasons, all surface water users are advised to avoid this area between 9.45am and 12.15pm. We are seeking the co-operation of the Whitianga boating fraternity to maintain distance from the Air Show display “box” on Sunday 22 October between 9.45am & 12.15pm.

Please note the display map. It’s necessary to keep vessels and/or pleasure boats clear of the display “box” during the air display. It’s okay to transit though the area to your intended destination but if any vessel positions itself in the display area, the Air Show Director could call a stop to the display. The MB Boating Club have agreed to place temporary marker buoys to define the boundary line for spectator boats to the east which will be patrolled by the Harbour Master and Coast Guard vessels. This restricted area is authorised by the Waikato Regional Council.

We will also have Mercury Bay Aero Club volunteers on duty at the Whitianga boat launching ramps early Sunday morning explaining to boat owners about the restricted area.
