The Mercury Bay Art Escape is again in full swing preparing for our open art studios in March 2024. We are on the search for new members to join our art trail and with our new website up and running, applications are online and easy. Go to the website and be sure to submit your application before 31st August 2023.

There may be no new road as yet, but they say when people are isolated their creativity comes to the fore. Mercury Bay is certainly a great example of this, with the unpredictable weather and road closures, our community has shown incredible fortitude and uniquely Coromandel creative work is apparent. The 2024 Art Escape is planning some exciting community art events, including a plan to extend our annual artists-in-residence at Hot Waves Café. Please follow us on Social Media to keep track of news regarding Art Escape’s community events.

As usual, we will be advertising our annual Mercury Bay Art Escape event for the 1st 2 weekends in March, however we have members who are happy to open by appointment throughout the year, offering opportunities to the accommodation sector to host art lovers visiting our area.

So, do apply to join the Mercury Bay Art Escape 2024, all quality work will be considered. Artists need to come from, or have permanent ties to the following areas - Pauanui, Hikuai, Tairua, Hot Water Beach, Hahei, Cooks Beach, Flaxmill Bay, Ferry Landing, Matarangi, Whenuakite, Coroglen,

Whitianga, Wharekaho, Kuaotunu, Otama, Opito Bay, Matarangi and Whangapoua.
