Classic Cars - colourful lunch at Ferry Landing

By Pauline Stewart.

It was perfect day for a drive and the Whitianga Classic Car Club were out to enjoy the sunshine and clear sky on Sunday, 5 November.

The owners of their cherished cars, sauntered from their various homes to meet at Ferry Landing Café, Cooks Beach for lunch. Actually, it was a meeting of classic dogs as well as classic cars. Club organiser, Michelle Farmer says, “We go to a restaurant or café that can welcome pets and where there’s room to park the cars. Today, Ferry Landing Café is ideal for this and it has recently re-opened with new owners.”

The club has 120 members and others are welcome to join. “We meet monthly,” says Michelle, “but we don’t have a set time as our outings are weather dependent. Classic car owners don’t like to get spots of rain on their cars,” she smiles.

Michelle uses email notification to let people know of coming events and a special Christmas event is being planned for members. The Classic Car Club has always enjoyed taking part in the annual Christmas Parade in Whitianga and some of the cars will be doing so again this year.
