Countdown cupcakes for Mumsupport Project Mammogram.

Imagine the look of delight on mum’s face when the children give her their decorated pink cupcakes on Mother’s Day, May 14; it’s a gift that will keep giving with money raised from Countdown Whitianga cupcake sales going to Project Mammogram.
Countdown Whitianga store manager, Shannon Sibley, says, “Nationally, Countdown supports a number of charities but everyone at the Whitianga store wanted to make a special contribution to Project Mammogram and cupcakes for Mums on Mother’s Day seemed like the perfect idea. I’ve got plenty of pink icing and our new baker, Wynard, is very excited about making the cupcakes, and everyone is keen to support such a worthy cause.”
On Saturday, May 13, packs of four plain cupcakes, a bag of pink icing and goodies to decorate them will be on sale. The packs can either be decorated at home or in the store foyer with members of Whitianga Lions Club available to help those ‘little’ customers who want to decorate their cupcakes before taking them home. There will also be a limited amount of decorated cupcakes available for the ‘super little’ customers to give as a ready-made gift.
“Bakels donated the mix for the vanilla muffins and loads of suppliers were keen to donate and fill the trolley of products for our raffle. When we mentioned it was for a local cause, they all jumped onboard. We are very grateful to our supply/partner relationships and their support, and our team for helping assemble the packs,” says Shannon.
As well as the cupcakes, she’s put together a gorgeous, pink-themed hamper which will be raffled off over the Mother’s Day weekend, all in support of Project Mammogram.
The cupcakes go on sale at 9am on Saturday, May 13.
