D-Max: Big, Bold and Beautiful Test drive available

The latest generation of Isuzu’s D-Max is finally here at Autobarn in Whitianga, ready to be viewed and test driven. Isuzu has earned a solid reputation for its unbreakable D-Max vehicles, and the new one is even tougher. A new, 20% stronger chassis and redesigned suspension underpins a new, even more comfortable, 5-Star Safety Rated cabin.

Recognising that a lot of D-Max owners spend considerable time behind the wheel, the cabin is luxuriously appointed. There are automatic and manual air conditioning options available, depending on the cab configuration. There are 6-way adjustable driver’s seats, with the steering wheel adjustable for height and reach. The top-of-the-line X-Terrain models feature 8-way adjustable seats with electric lumbar support.

Prominent in the centre console is a seven inch touch-screen control centre, that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as reversing camera and front and rear parking sensors.

There’s also the full suite of driver aids, from ABS braking, to autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane assist and traffic sign recognition. There are also blind spot monitors fitted to the side mirrors.

Up front, there’s Isuzu’s trusted diesel technology. With more than 26 million engines produced, the new Isuzu D-Max engine represents the state of the art. The 3-litre Euro5-rated 4JJ3-TCX engine features common-rail fuel injection, chain driven camshafts and an incredible 450-Nm of stump-pulling torque, available from just 1,600rpm. Maximum power is 140Kw @ 3,600 rpm.

Shackled to a six-speed automatic transmission, it automatically adapts to your driving style, and also offers a sequential ‘Sports’ mode. The manual ‘box is also upgraded, with a new short-throw shift, and a ’dual mass’ flywheel that absorb engine vibration, making for an even quieter, smoother driver experience.

Today’s Isuzu D-Max is a world removed from the ‘utes’ of old. It drives and rides like a car over any terrain, and it comes with a reputation for going the extra distance, in terms of economy and reliability. But don’t take our word for it. Until the end of August, you can book a test drive with Autobarn who are working with Linn Motors of Thames to provide comprehensive diagnostic and service support for the D-Max on the Peninsula. Just ring and book, bring your full drivers’ license, and see for yourself how the Isuzu D-Max will change the way you experience life.

Among the fifteen different configurations available, there are double and single cab options, including a cab-and-chassis version, all with four-wheel drive fitted as standard.
