Finals of MBAS ‘MasterChef’

The three judges were ready for the big final: Kobe Adams - ex student of MBAS, qualified level 4 culinary school at Tauranga this year; Jo Mannington – teacher;

Gabriel Moraes Souza - head chef at the Church Restaurant Hahei. He has judged three junior masterchef competitions for MBAS giving up his time to support the students and see who is up and coming.

Their decisions: Year 7 winner = Guttorm Myrland - stuffed chicken.

Year 8 = Gia Swindlehurst and Tallulah Lukic Calder - strawberry pies.

Year 9 = Millie Gold and Meg Harper - chicken pies.

Special mention Elenoa Joshua and Paiggon Kereopa.

Students were thrown out of their comfort zone by a mystery bag challenge. Risks were taken and some creative dishes were produced as a result. The students had to problem solve and experiment. These students will be self-sufficient and independent, healthy cooks in their futures.
