First local winner to receive Marathon entry refund

Entries for the Whitianga Marathon are coming in at a great pace, with eight very lucky locals scheduled to have their entry fees refunded to them. “We will have 5km, 10km, half marathon and marathon distances available fr runners and walker,” says Nick Reader, the event organiser. Every week, over the next two months, Nick Reader will draw the name of a local who has already entered and refund their entry fee to them
The informer announces the first name to be drawn and that person receives their Marathon entry refund.
Winner is Teresa Kedzlie of Matarangi who had registered for the 10km run.
Well done Teresa!
“I am very excited about what is a trend to be a very good showing from those living in Mercury Bay,” says Nick Reader of Element Events.
“All school children on the Coromandel Peninsula run in the Whitianga Marathon for free. Integral to the theme, Run for Good, I the change to encourage all Coromandel peninsula school children to enter and participate for no cost at all. We believe that taking part in our event had great physical and mental health benefits and e went to share these amongst our young people.”
To run or walk this marathon the participants experience a mainly flat coastal course with stunning views based in the heart of the Coromandel Peninsula. There is a course for everyone from a 5km fun run right up to the premier 42km. “Yes, it does take effort to run or walk these distances, says Nick, both organiser and athlete, “so all runners and walkers, receive a commemorative medal of ther achievement.” (Not available to 5km fun run participants)
In the next issue of The informer, the second winner to receive a refund for their entry fee, will be announced.
