It was a quiet week on the fishing front in Mercury Bay last week, but a highlight most certainly was when All Black, Jordie Barrett, reeled in an impressive 181.1kg broadbill swordfish on Wednesday, 4 May. Jordie was assisted by his brother and fellow All Black, Scott, and the crew of the vessel Fyssher.

The Mercury Bay Game Fishing Club’s annual Snapper Tournament will take place on Saturday, 4 June (Queen’s Birthday Weekend). Only one fish per angler will be weighed. The cost to enter is $20. For more information, see mbgfc.co.nz.
