Great support for Rupert - Thank you !

By Pauline Stewart.

Phil and Kate Nielsen extend their heartfelt thanks to the Kuaotunu community for supporting their son Rupert's trip to Scotland for the World Pipe Band Championships.

The Highland fundraising evening hosted by the Kuaotunu Fire Brigade was a tremendous success. Their thanks go to those who organised and ran the evening, donated the prizes, and everyone who dug so deeply into their pockets on the evening or contributed to the Givealittle page.

“We are grateful for, and humbled by, your generosity in helping this young man on his way,” said Phil and Kate Nielsen.

The 2023 World Pipe Band Championships will be held in August in Glasgow, Scotland. The event attracts over 40,000 spectators and over two days, about 150 bands and thousands of pipers and drummers compete. The competition has been going since 1906.

Rupert will go to Scotland a couple of weeks early to compete in other Scotland-based piping competitions.
