Herbs Duo draws a good crowd

The audience revelled in nostalgia joining vocally with the familiar songs, but there were also some new tunes and new arrangement by the ‘Herbs’ duo at the Whitianga Hotel on Saturday night. The two-piece set of Tama Lundon on guitar, keyboard and vocals with Maurice Watene on sax and vocals, was a smooth, acoustic, pop-reggae combination.

Whiti Hotel is well designed for the smaller indoor concert and with theatre lighting, excellent sound production, it was a very pleased crowd getting into the groove of the music of the legendary duo of Herbs fame. The hallmarks of what enables a band to be inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame were very evident in this evening’s concert - a professionalism where not one note, vocal or instrumental, is missed. The evening Hotel Manager, Rahul, was pleased with the night and keen to engage more bands and different styles of entertainment for the locals to make their Saturday nights a buzz.
