Let the good times roll: Mercury Bay Big Band is back
Since their last successful sold out Anzac concert in the Whitianga Town Hall in April 2020, and after 2 years’ lock down absence, it’s great for the Mercury Bay Big Band to be doing what they love by providing some musical enjoyment to locals from a diverse repertoire on Sunday 16 October.
For the concert, Musical Director Paul Lee has put together a mixture of favourite jazz numbers, a little Latin, some jazzy soul and classic hits, providing something for everyone, young and old to listen to or dance.
The Mercury Bay Big Band is teaming up with internationally acclaimed guest vocalist Anita Prime, who recently received a QSM for her services to youth and community, for providing a wide range of charitable work in the area of music and life skills. The Big Band has been fortunate to perform with her in the past, and it promises to be a great event.
Mercury Bay Big Band have nurtured some great talent over the years and always welcome new players. They offer a musical scholarship each year for young players who are interested in playing with them.
Tickets are available at the door from 2.30pm on the day.
