'Magic Mike' set to be a full house
Ladies, let’s make Magic Mike movie a sellout for Project Mammogram
For those in the know, the Magic Mike movies are pretty hot stuff with actor, Channing Tatum strutting his stuff. There is a fun night out on offer, the latest instalment, Magic Mike’s Last Dance, and you will be supporting Project Mammogram in the process. On Thursday, at 6.30pm, February 9 ,Mercury Bay Twin Cinemas is holding a premier night for Magic Mike’s Last Dance with exclusive $20 ticket packages offering the entry fee plus a glass of bubbly or juice or medium popcorn and from each ticket sold $10 will go to Project Mammogram. Select your favourite seat for another $5 and that will go to the Project too; all while you and your friends have a great night out.
At intermission, you could win a gorgeous treat supplied by Cathedral Cove Macadamias, Devonport Chocolates or Mercury Bay Pharmacy in the ‘lucky seat’ giveaway, and there’s a raffle for someone to win a family pass to the movies including snacks, with all proceeds going to the Project.
After the premier night, $5 from every ticket sold for Magic Mike’s Last Dance will be donated to Project Mammogram for the duration of the movie run. So why not buy the love of your life a ticket or simply pop in to Twin Cinemas to make a donation towards this very important fundraiser.
Twin Cinemas owners, Anne-Maree and Matt McDougall, say they value how the community pulls together to provide essential services, and as a business, they want to help with their support. Anne-Maree says: “I’m personally of an age that I need mammograms and I missed my last one here because I just wasn’t able to get to the mobile unit at the time. But I’m a Mum of three children and we have benefited hugely by being able to get x-rays in town, which is the other project that Lions have done. We need these facilities for our town and wider community. What we know is, we have to help ourselves, and our community is amazing at being able to sort ourselves out. Matt and I just wanted to help with part of that. “
Jillian Johnston of Cathedral Cove Macadamias says, “ This is important to our community, to have that very important machine that will save hours of travel over hills. We are very supportive of initiatives like Project Mammogram.” Both theatres will screen the movie on the premier night, Thursday, 9 February with a limited 136 seats, which are already selling well. This is an escapist, chick flick but of course, you’re coming because you are donating to a really good cause! “It would be great to sell-out on opening night as that is the best donation bang for Project Mammogram,” says Anne-Maree.
