September Museum News
Spring is definitely here with some lovely weather …. finally!!
The Museum is now gearing up for the busy summer season. We are tidying up the front lawn and making it easier for our visitors to locate us from the street! We are also adding some extra bits and pieces to link the outside to the inside – make sure you come past and have a look.
We had another big screen fundraiser last week with a viewing of ‘Twelve Days – 1769’. This was fabulously supported by our community – thank you to all those who attended. It was a great opportunity to revisit our history for those who have seen it before or learn something new about the place where we live and its rich history! It was also a great opportunity to show off our new advertising on the big screen. When you visit MTC - Mercury Twin Cinemas over the summer, watch out for our advertisement. It was created for us by the fabulous Altbays team here in Whitianga. You might also recognise some amazing locals who starred in it for us.
The Museum now has two fabulous temporary exhibitions – ‘Somewhat Glassy – A history of all things glass’ and ‘Somewhat Musical – a history of music in the 1900’s’. These spaces are open to view now until the 28 October – so pop in and have a wander down memory lane!
The school holidays are just around the corner, so make sure you come in and visit us with the kids or by yourselves. We have a couple of new activities for them to do – ‘Mystery Melody’ and ‘Breaking News – Escaped Glass’. A huge thanks to Fabian Roberts for helping set up the musical activity in the new exhibition, we just love hearing the music that is being made. The new activities are awesome, and you will enjoy them exploring the Museum.
We always look forward to seeing you in the Museum! We are open Monday to Saturday 10am to 3pm (last admission 2:15pm).
See you all soon!
