Museum Musings

It’s Spring!! With that, the days are longer, which means we can get more done around the house. For us here in the Museum, we have certainly been getting things done around the house!

Our new exhibition spaces - the school room, general store and haberdashery - are coming along nicely. Thanks to all the hard work of our amazing builder, Steve. His patience is certainly a virtue when we say, ‘we were thinking’!! He certainly makes the process so much easier. Also, thanks to our resident sparky and general technical wizard Damon- this new space is our first full exhibition that will be wifi controlled.

The collection team have also been working really hard getting all the objects out of the storage space and ready for installing. There is a lot of work behind the scenes for an exhibition. Each object needs to be catalogued before it can be placed on the shelf. Once the objects are chosen, we then need to curate the space and tell the stories with a local twist if we can. Our history is important to us, and these spaces will show that to our visitors. We are well on our way to the opening event at the end of the month and the upcoming school holidays.

Don’t forget we now have Friends of the Museum. This is a great way to support your local museum in all that we do, and the bonus is you get free entry for a whole year. Check out our website or pop in and have a chat.

See you all soon
