Museum Musings

As I sit writing this, the Museum is having a spooktacular makeover with our two Halloween events happening. I hope those that joined us had a fantastic time and we look forward to a bigger event next year!! I just want to say a huge thank you to Eloise of Halloween HQ for coming on board with us. It was an absolute ‘scare’ working with her and her team of scarers and can’t wait until 2023!

For all our visitors who have missed the school room exhibition – please come and visit us again! We now have a new schoolroom and an additional two spaces that are stores. The feedback has been amazing so come on in.

We are currently working on our ‘local space’ exhibition. This is a space in the museum that is ‘revolving’ and changes 3-4 times a year. The next exhibition will be open the end of November and will be there over the Summer season. It is called ‘Back to the Future – A History of Home Technology’. We don’t have a DeLorean to take you physically back in time, but the objects should transport your memory to a time that has now gone and bring you back to today all in one space.

Last week I had the opportunity to appear on the Altbays Podcast with Leo, Taylor and Fabian. What a great session!! I thoroughly enjoyed talking about all things Museum and history. If you missed it and want to check out – go to our Facebook page and we have a link there. The Altbays crew are fantastic and have some amazing guests that chat about all sorts of topics so check them out too on Facebook and YouTube.

Christmas ….. I know too soon, but I want to let you know that we will be participating this year in the global event that is ‘Museum Store Sunday’. This is a chance to do that Christmas gift shopping while supporting the Museum and the local businesses that support our gift shop. The date will be Sunday, 27 November so keep an eye out on our social media for more details – after we have recovered from Halloween!

Don’t forget we now have Friends of the Museum. This is a great way to support your local museum in all that we do, and the bonus is you get free entry for a whole year. Check out our website or pop in and have a chat.

See you all soon
