Not-to-be-missed - A Taste of Matarangi

By Holly Shan

At the Matarangi Reserve on Saturday, 1 April, from 10:00am A Taste of Matarangi returns to the picturesque seaside Village Green, a feature of beautiful Matarangi. Enjoy a day of delicious seafood, local produce, fine wine and cold beer, and... Experience some great music.

Sound Republic - comprises New Zealand's finest young musicians; a cover band that not only focuses on classic hits of the 70’s and 80’s but also rocks out with chart toppers from the 90s, 00s and 10s. With guitar, bass, drums, keys, electric violin and two lead vocalists, Sound Republic turns it on and wows audiences of all ages!

Pow Wow - This Mt Maunganui trio mixes and reimagines all your favourite hits from the 70s/80s/90s to modern-day sounds. The boys have a relentless fun vibe that keeps the dance floor pumping.

Mandy Meadows - Not your average professional, high-energy modern party duo. Offering great low-key acoustic sets, this male and female duo love to play classic cruisy tunes to set the lunchtime scene.

Whitianga Dixieland Band - Local musicians, including our Mayor, Len Salt, will perform New Orleans jazz tunes from cruisy blues to foot stomping swing music. Dixieland music is the original unplugged, good times groove.

Other not-to-be-missed activities:

The Kids Zone - Ensure the kids find their way to the dedicated Children’s Area adjacent to the playground for face painting, rides and games.

Topping The Event - All-important charity auctions, raffles and bucket drops to raise funds towards the festival charities - Te Rerenga School and Kūaotunu Search & Rescue. We will have some great auction packages donated by local business groups to be auctioned off at 1 pm on the event day. With the unpredictable weather this summer and all the past adversities we’ve been through,

A Taste of Matarangi might just be what you need!

Tickets are only available online through A Taste of Matarangi website. $25 an adult, $5 a child (5-17yrs), under 5yrs free. On the day, the entry is $30 an adult.
