Pink Bun Day Feb 14 supports Project Mammogram

Its official! February 14 is Pink Bun Day, so share the love this Valentine’s Day by buying a pink bun at participating bakeries and you’ll be supporting Project Mammogram.
Who doesn’t love a pink bun, right? It’s the perfect treat to enjoy with friends and family, work colleagues, and of course, you’ll be the best boss in town if you show up with pink buns for morning tea on Pink Bun Day.
Whitianga Lions and Mercury Bay Lions Project Mammogram coordinator Mike Brown says while the focus for Project Mammogram is to raise $350,000 to buy a 3D mammogram unit to be based in Whitianga and ensure early detection for better outcomes for the people of Coromandel Peninsula, actually celebrating life through fun events like Pink Bun Day is really important for community wellbeing as well.
Mike says: “We’re incredibly grateful to Pak ‘n Save Thames, Tairua Four Square, Whitianga New World, Bay Bakery in Whitianga, and Coromandel Four Square for their enthusiasm in being part of our first Pink Bun Day. They will be putting their best pink-iced bun, or muffin, forward on the day with donations from the sale of every pink bun going to Project Mammogram. Some are even donating all their profits from their pink buns sales on the day. That’s incredibly generous!
“Many of the bakeries we spoke to about this event said they wanted to support Project Mammogram because they really believed we need this service based here as essential healthcare.
“We really hope their customers, and everyone who loves a pink bun gets behind Pink Bun Day and it becomes a sell-out success! So, if you want a few pink buns on the day, it might be wise to let the store know in advance. We’d hate you to miss out on this delicious bit of fun!”
