Red-stickered but ready to play

By Kaspur Franke

Sean Kelly and his band is back with an all-new show at The Monkey House Lounge and Cabaret Friday Night, 24 February. Fresh off his sold-out nationwide tour of New Zealand, Sean’s signature Irish music has thrilled and entertained audiences worldwide. The Monkey House at 18 Coghill Street, Whitianga, will be Sean’s final stop before heading off to perform in North America. It’s been a rough road of late. Whilst the band hunkered down in Great Barrier Island during Cyclone Gabrielle, Sean, a resident of The Coromandel, had his house red stickered in Thames but that has only made him more resolved and determined to bring as much joy through music to our community as possible and to all of those who have been affected by the weather of late. “Life throws things at you, but I’m going to keep on entertaining people and looking forward positively.”

Grab your $20 tickets from Eventfinda, the lovely team at the i-site or directly from the Monkey House, and don’t miss out on a chance to hear some good time toe-tapping traditional and contemporary Irish and Scottish tunes featuring live originals and a surprising clatter of covers. Sean and his band of talented musicians stars Jono Lonie on fiddle, mandolin and pipes; Eddie Malone on guitar and bass; and Sean Kelly on vocals, guitar, bohdran & whistle.

Where: Monkey House Lounge and Cabaret

When: 8pm (Happy hour 7-8pm) Friday, 24 February.
