Yash Kotian is the Manager at salt restaurant and so very proud of all the recent renovations and improvements made to the indoor dining and bar area at Salt Restaurant. It almost glows with the kauri timber exposed and polished, walls moved and then resurrected with soft, fresh tones of paint. He is charming and very knowledgeable The owner is Harkamalveer Singh but everyone knows him as Ricky. The two are a fine team; Yash from Mumbai and Ricky from the Punjab. Both bring a wealth of experience in the design and management of cuisine environments where requirements are - lots of room, a relaxed atmosphere for guests, while still providing an excellent standard of food, hospitality and beautiful surrounds.
Situated on the Whitianga Marina’s edge, Salt Restaurant and Bar is a perfect mix of casual, but sophisticated, dining and the view is tranquil. Yash has been staging live entertainment in the outdoor area, more for background to good conversation over drinks. Dave Kennedy was doing a great job when the Informer visited.
Meeting the staff says immediately this is a multi-cultural environment, so pleasing to the eye and so good for Mercury Bay.
Offering world-class cuisine and wine, beautiful décor in a waterside setting, and friendly, professional service, it’s not hard to see why the venue is a favourite for leisurely dining. It’s a pleasure to sit down and enjoy a pre-dinner drink - anything from a glass of champagne, premium spirits to exotic cocktails – before ordering a meal to enjoy with friends, whether dining outdoor or indoor. Is there anything better?
