SeniorNet Update
By Ady-Cole Ewen

Hello to you All,
Well, I did promise you we would “Drop In” again very soon, and we did, last week. Once again people arrived as we were opening the doors and we got off to a very lively start.
Offering this opportunity for you to come and meet with our team over a tea/coffee and have a chat about what you would like to achieve with your phones, iPads, notebooks and computers, or solving any problems you are having, seems to have struck a chord in helping to take away any concerns people have had with regard to coming along to SeniorNet for the first time. One new member said she had been trying to pluck up the courage to come for some time. She loved our advertisement with the two seniors parachuting happily down to “Drop In” for a coffee. When she saw the advertisement for the second time she decided, “It looked like we had a sense of humour,” and it gave her the courage to come along. She is now all signed up for her first One-on-One session with Pam for Internet Banking and keen to get involved with our fun craft sessions to make personalised cards, and gifts for Christmas.
Another new member was fascinated with the selection of Photobooks we had on display. Having recently packed up house to move to Whitianga, she admitted she had “boxes of photographs” that her family had already advised her they did not want. She is now on a mission to change that by selecting photos that relate to different family members and put together the story of their lives. She could see how her family would love their family story in a ‘coffee table’ book that everyone could share, whereas a messy box of jumbled photos could never have the same appeal.
You don’t need to wait for our next “Drop In” to get started. For assistance, please contact Sheryl, our delightful admin secretary, by email - seniornet.whitiang.admin@gmail.com or phone 021 022 62504.
Please note that we work to the school term system and Term 3 ends on Thursday, 28 September. We are then closed until Term 4 starts on Tuesday, 10 October. All bookings must be made by contacting our admin secretary and it is advisable to book in as early as possible if you wish to access specific sessions, particularly the Christmas Calendar course which starts on 10 October.
All sessions/tutorials are held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Room 9 in the Social Services Building at 2 Cook St., Whitianga. Contact Sheryl for a copy of the Term 4 Schedule.
You can also check us out on our SeniorNet Whitianga Facebook page.
Our ‘Drop In’ days are an All-Members Event - for the new members we have yet to meet, and those members who are already old friends. We look forward to sharing time with you all.
Stay Well, Stay Safe,
Ady Cole-Ewen
