Ten venues in Tairua -an array of art and artists

Celebrating the abundance of creative talent in Tairua is the focus of Open Studios to be held on Saturday, 21 October 21, 9am – 5pm, as part of Tairua Creatives Weekend.

Other activities for visitors and locals to enjoy have been planned for Labour Weekend in Tairua.

There will be ten venues displaying a variety of art works around the town. Junko Hooper will display her painting and charcoal and Leanne Irvine will show paintings and wall hangings. Other artists showing their paintings are Jennifer Panther, Reiner Cottier, Jean McCann, Christine McGrath, Michael Harrison and Susan Dunster.

Wood Bay Studio/Gallery will also be open as well as The Little Gallery and there will be plenty of art works at Tairua Community Hall where Tairua Art Club will be displaying members’ work. Money raised from refreshments served at the hall will benefit Whitianga Project Mammogram.

Organiser and Creative Coromandel trustee, Jean McCann, sees it as a trial run for the Mercury Bay Art Escape open studios.

And I thought these open studios and other events would encourage visitors to come to Tairua and see how special it is and how many creatives live here.”
