The Fire Siren

Sponsored by Safety + Apparel - tel 0800 726 726

June was a very steady month for the Whitianga Volunteer Fire Brigade with thirteen calls for assistance. With the rough weather, we were called twice to trees blocking roads and responded to people caught in flood waters. We had a small garage fire and were called to a car fire that was out on arrival. We had a chimney fire that got into the roof causing concern. We assisted Ambulance twice and responded to four Motor Vehicle Accidents. The number of car accidents is concerning, all of them preventable. With the winter weather, please drive to the conditions and slow down. With the colder nights, people have the fire or heater going, so keep everything at least a metre from the heater.

Stay safe.
