The Fire Siren.

By Derek Collier.

July was a quiet month for the Whitianga Volunteer Fire Brigade with ten calls for assistance. We responded to two motor vehicle accidents, a call to oil spilled on the road and we had a clothes dryer that caught on fire and two calls to private fire alarms activated. During the windy weather, we were called to a tree that had come down, blocking the road and a car stuck in flood waters. We also investigated smoke showing and assisted the Ambulance once. The call to the clothes drier that caught on fire is a good reminder to make sure your clothes driers are well ventilated and that the filter is cleaned regularly.
