A Taste of Matarangi is back!
By Holly Shan

Get ready for an unforgettable day full of fun, food, and music as A Taste of Matarangi festival returns to the Village Green next to Matarangi beach in Matarangi from 10am on Saturday, 1 April. The event promises to be full of surprises and new experiences for both regulars and first-time festival goers.
This year, the festival has lined up an impressive selection of bands including Sound Republic, Pow Wow, Mandy Meadows duo, The Whitianga Dixieland Band, and the Te Rerenga school pupils performing Kapa Haka. There will also be a kids' zone, raffles, and auctions, offering something for everyone. With the name, A taste of Matarangi, it is tasting food that is one of the most popular aspects of the festival. Vendors provide both healthy and indulgent choices. Food stalls enjoyed at the previous year’s festivals have had an international flavour, including the Paella Pan, Turkish and Greek food, French crepes, Hungarian bread puffs and Spanish churros along with all your local favourites to tempt the taste buds such as scallop and prawn skewers, Coromandel mussel fritters, the KSAR sausage sizzle, the famous Serial Griller burgers, Luke’s Kitchen pizzas, meaty and prawn tacos, seafood fritters, real fruit ice creams and smoothies.
Each year, A Taste of Matarangi Festival gives back to charitable causes that benefit the community. Since its inception, the festival has raised $90,000 for its benefactors through fundraising initiatives and donations. This year, the festival supports Kuaotunu Search and Rescue and Te Rerenga School, both valuable assets to the Coromandel Peninsula.
So, bring your family, friends, and the sunshine and enjoy a day full of delicious seafood, local produce, fine wine, cold beer, and great music at this wonderful beach location in Matarangi.
