Whiti Beach Meet 2023
Momentum is building nicely for the running of the annual Whiti Beach Meet which will be held on the Buffalo Beach reserve on Sunday, 8 January 2023, kicking off at 9.30am.
The show is organised and run by the American Street and Custom Club, Whitianga.
Spokesperson for the club, Reg Smith, says entries for this year’s event have exceeded expectations and are expected to reach in excess of 200 with a wide assortment of interesting vehicles in the mix and on display for public viewing.
“Moving to the Buffalo Beach reserve from the main street, which hosted the last two shows, gives us the room to put on a much bigger and brighter event without placing a restriction on entrant numbers. Plus, we can cater better for the family entertainment, raffles and competitions we have planned along with creating more space for the on-site vendors. It’s all about showcasing some great machinery from both the past and present, creating a great day out for individuals and families a>
t a no entry cost and to also help raise some funds for a couple of great local causes,” says Reg.
While there will be plenty of large American cars from the 60’s and 70’s on display, organisers say it’s not too late for owners of other vehicles that could be of interest to the general public, to enter.
“And it’s not just about the bling and four large mag wheels,” adds Reg. “We want owners to enter anything that could be of interest to the motoring world and that includes motorbikes. We even have a number of military vehicles confirmed to be on show which is sure to add additional interest and also highlights the diversity of vehicles on display overall.”
Proceeds from the show will go to two worthy local causes, Project Mammogram and the Mercury Bay Cancer Support Trust. The main sponsors for the show are Farmer Auto Village and CFM who, along with a host of local and further afield businesses, have donated a comprehensive amount of category, spot and raffle prizes to be won. Farmer Auto Village will also have a range of new vehicles on display from their extensive automotive portfolio which means the public can rub shoulders with the past as well as the future.

To help raise funds for Project Mammogram, Doug and Denise are offering ‘a cruise’ in this classic pink machine to the winner of the raffle prize. The raffle works like this; just put a donation in the Whitianga Lions Club donation bucket on the day of the Beach Meet and you go immediately into the draw which will take place the afternoon of Sunday, 8 January. The winner and winner’s partner or friend will have lunch at Lukes Kitchen in Kuaotunu before returning to Whitianga in the luxury pink Cadillac. Doug and Denise will also dine as guests of Lukes Kitchen as part of their sponsorship of the Mammogram Project. Whitianga is going to have a super Beach Meet Sunday, 8 January.
